Prior to Tech Elevator I was...

working as the Director of Employee experience at TRG in Westlake.

The students at Tech Elevator...

are so impressive and passionate - they always have insightful questions and are no strangers to hard work.

The best part of my day is...

making a difference for all of our students and helping them find their first placement in the IT field.

Valerie joined the Human Resources field after college when she moved back home to Cleveland after studying Social & Cultural History and Anthropology at Carnegie Mellon University. She worked as a Generalist in HR for five years in the hospitality and legal industries before taking on a role as the Director of Employee Experience at TRG, where she became a "lifer" in the technology industry. At TRG, Valerie worked closely with the executive team to create a positive culture and foster relationships with the staff that were spread across multiple states and countries.

After earning the moniker of "Favorite HR Lady," from the staff she served, Valerie realized that dealing directly with people and making a difference in their lives hardly even felt like work, and that is what helped her come to the realization that she was in the perfect career. While her dream job is being the host of Jeopardy!, the Pathway Program Director role at Tech Elevator is the perfect chance for Valerie to get to know people, help them discover their strengths, and share them with the world.

A Cleveland-native, Valerie actively serves as a volunteer Alumna Interviewer for her alma mater and donates blood as often as the Red Cross will allow her. Outside of work, Valerie tries never to take herself too seriously and loves spending time in the kitchen with her high school sweetheart Andy at their home in Bay Village. You can also occasionally find her belting out her favorite tunes at Karaoke (when she's not home reading, doing yoga, or watching re-runs of Bob Ross' The Joy of Painting, of course.)

Valerie is thrilled to be part of the TE team and looks forward to helping our students gain the soft skills and confidence they need to complete a successful job search.
