Ren Flanders

Marketing Coordinator

Prior to Tech Elevator I was...

a 7th Grade Science Teacher/2016 Teach for America Corps Member and a Community Organizing Consultant for the Children's Defense Fund.

The students at Tech Elevator...

have incredibly compelling stories and journeys that have led them here, and I am grateful to get to experience their growth and development.

The best part of my day is...

learning with everyone on the TE team and truly just being in this space!

Ren is a graduate of Cleveland State University where she studied International Relations and Political Science. As a “North Coast” gal, Ren’s love for community runs deep, and she’s worked in a myriad of roles that support the equitable development and cultivation of Northeast Ohio Communities. Most recently, Ren completed her commitment as a 2016 Teach for America corps member serving as a 7th Grade Science Teacher for a public charter network in Cleveland. Since 2014, Ren has also worked as a community and political organizer, including time as a Community Organizing Consultant for the Children’s Defense Fund, focused on the development and implementation of Constructive Programming to dismantle oppressive systems.

Ren’s passion for community is parallel to her love of creating, communicating, and marketing. Prior to becoming an educator, Ren was Social Media Manager and Blogger for a legal startup and worked to redevelop organizations’ external communications and marketing materials for over 200 events at Cleveland State. She has given WAY too much money to Adobe through her Creative Suite subscription.

She is thrilled to now be career-changer herself, and enjoys reading and writing, hosting kickbacks, and exploring Northeast Ohio metro parks in her free time.
